Yeah! This is what i love so much! My new Samsung S85 digital camera. There are 2 main reason why i buy this digicam for. Firstly for my upcoming trip to cape town and buenos aires and secondly for any event regarding Kereta dot info web and go travel place dot com web (when i am travelling with my friends and beloved person every month soon). I have tested this beautiful camera and very satisfied with it.
Let me start with the battery consumption. Yes, so many people say that this camera suck battery very quick! But you should concern of what is the requirement of this camera. In the manual, it require you to have a rechargeable battery NiMH 2500 mAH! I bought slightly lower than that, the rechargeble battery original “instant” brand 2100mAH. However, it is enough for this camera and i found that i can use the camera with more than 200 shot! Even until now, I have not recharge it yet but still have one bar of battery indicator. I am very happy with the battery performance with the original 2100mAH. Before this, the first time, i used my brother’s sony rechargeable battery 1600mAH but it only last for not more than 1 hour. I think that the battery is fake from lelong.com.my store or somewhere else. The sony rechargeable battery have so many fake item everywhere. So, beware if you want to buy sony battery when it is cheap. That’s why i decided to buy the original one and it can give me time to play with my camera around 5 hours continuously. It takes 6-7 hours only to fully charge the battery.
The main important point why i choose this camera is the colour capture. I really love how the s85 define colours via SHD 8.2 Megapixel lens. Click the picture for slightly higher resolution. It describe all colours very well. Before this i have 3 camera to choose that is Panasonic Lumix LS80 VS Canon Powershot A590 VS Samsung S85. I compare A590 which is more expensive with S85 image, the colour quality is very good and similar with each other. The Lumix LS80 is not so good even it has mega Optical Image Stabilizer.
samsung s85 review
Above picture is taken at night approximately 930 PM after Solat Terawih. hehe. Why? Dont believe ha? kui2.. This is another features that i like on this s85. It can control the aperture, iso and shutter speed. I try maximum shutter speed 15 seconds, which will open the lens 15 seconds to capture all the lights even in very dark condition, iso 800 is very good to use compare to max iso 1600 and the minimum aperture is 2.8 which will open the lens to max width to allow more light to come in. The results is marvellous! Picture at night is like taking it while daylight. Compare to the picture below taken at the same time with auto mode and flash. Its so dark actually. But i can have the clear picture above by setting the camera manually and put it on my mini tripod for 15 seconds.
The image of s85 is fair and clear.
This picture (above) also taken at night. I am searching for a camera that can see and capture exactly the same with what my eyes see. This is one of the example. The image is very similar with my sight even in the dark condition.
The close up or macro mode function very well. Taken when I’m having break fast with my friends at hartz chicken buffet recently. Yummy2.. =)
The bulb image taken while the lights on and there is too much light output from it. You cannot look at it directly coz it is very dangerous. But i managed to take the picture very clearly when i set the aperture to max and shutter speed to minimum.
Above picture taken when i’m doing my hydrogen generator or hydrofuel project with my car. With flash on, you can see the bubbles that came out from the electrod freeze! The flash mode is very good to capture in a very shaky condition. You will not get a blur image when you on your flash!
Picture above taken when i’m driving to home with ASR (Anti Shake Reduction) mode. With very shaky hand while driving and moving object around, the ASR doing a very good job. You can see the image has no blur. In fact, you can zoom more and see the words on the signboard very clear below.
Overall, I highly recommend this samsung S85 digital camera to all! Very nice! =)
